This eAudiology Web seminar will cover the latest technological advances pertaining to all types of implantable hearing devices. Updates on bone conduction and fully implantable aids will be offered. Hearing preservation in cochlear implantation, with hybrid and electrical-acoustic stimulation, will also be discussed.
Dr. Kaplan was born and raised in Boston, Mass., attending Cornell University for his undergraduate education. He attended the University of Virginia School of Medicine, remaining at UVA to complete his residency in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery. He served as Chief Resident before joining Ear, Nose and Throat Associates at GBMC Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.
He is currently the Chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology, Chairman of the Institutional Graduate Medical Committee, the Surgical Director of the GBMC Thyroid Center, member of the Cochlear Implant Center at GBMC, an Assistant Professor at Johns Hopkins University and on the GBMC Medical Board.
Dr. Kaplan's past research interests have included hearing loss, chronic sinusitis and facial reconstruction. He currently practices the full scope of ENT, with particular interest in pediatrics, otology and sinus disease. Dr. Kaplan is board-certified in Otolaryngology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
